Google Analytics

As I sat here, suffering, I was looking at Google Analytics for my blog. I looked at how many states I've had visits from, and I was kind of blown away by what I saw.

Bet you can't guess where I live. Anyway, I've reached 42 states! You have no idea how good this makes me feel and not because people are reading MY blog, specifically; it's because that many people are reading this blog and possibly finding something that helps them gain control of their IBS. If nothing here works for them, I hope that at least they leave knowing that there's one more person that knows what they're dealing with so they don't feel completely alone.

But, really, Alaska, Delaware, Oklahoma, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and New Hampshire? There has to be someone with IBS in your states! Help them find this blog! I'm especially upset with Delaware since I vacation in Rehoboth Beach every summer. Ugh. Whatevs.

So, with that out of the way, I am not feeling well today. I'm down to my go-to foods that never cause flare-ups these past two days, but now one of my two options isn't even working for me. So now I just have cereal to fall back on. Yay! (sarcasm)

Yesterday I was randomly nauseous, and today my lovely diarrhea came back along with more nausea and just general crappy feeling-ness. I'm not happy especially because I couldn't remember the last time I even had diarrhea. I was thinking that it was just because I started my period, which never bodes well for my IBS symptoms, but who knows. I like to analyze what may have caused my symptoms, but I'm just not sure what's causing me problems today. I just want it to be over with! It definitely doesn't help that I forgot to take my imodium last night. Bummer.

  1. Hi Rachel,

I have been checking your blog on and off for a long time now, but I hadn't seen your more recent updates. I have started a blog now too, where I talk a little bit about my IBS and what works (and doesn't work) for me, but I think my IBS is a bit less severe, and my blog is also about food, health, and psychology more generally. Please feel free to check it out if you are interested, though. And just so you know, my IBS is always far worse around my period. I am glad to see you are posting more regularly, as your blog really has helped me when I have been feeling my worst.

I also just wanted to say that you may be missing a few states (I also love Delaware and went on vacation to Rehoboth Beach many years ago), but you have at least one person (me!) viewing your blog from England, and if you didn't check the rest of the world, I bet you have people from other countries viewing it too.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and very best wishes for a wonderful 2012 with minimal IBS symptoms!

  2. Hi Emily, thanks for commenting! I didn't mean to leave out the rest of the world, but it's pretty sad as far as views goes. But that's one thing I love about the internet, it makes the thousands of miles between people disappear. And thank god because I don't have anyone close to me to talk to about this stuff (besides my man, but he doesn't understand it firsthand).

I'll add your blog to my Google Reader. I always love connecting with other people with IBS!

  3. I too am from England and have spent the last...I don't know how long reading through your entire blog! Yes I have a lot of spare time on my hands due to IBS. YAY!
Anyway, I just wanted to say THANKS :D this is definately something that doesn't come up in your day to day conversation and IBS can leave us feeling sooo isolated it's ridiculous.

I look forward to your next post and I just want to say thanks again for steppig out and sharing oyur experience, I can say without a doubt it definately has and will continue to help people around the world with this "THING"
